Minions invade food chain and cyberspace

How these collectibles rule the social media and make netizens going banana?

Ever since these group of yellow little things called Minions were introduced by Disney, I couldn't help shaking my head in disbelief from that time on. They were incredibly mesmerizing to look at right before my eyes but sadly, their endearing appearances didn't win my interest in which, for some reasons, led me to have a self-confession that I am not an obsessed fan. Nevertheless, my sweet denial of being a fan has changed drastically when these collectible minions items from McDonald's were officially made available nationwide.

These collectibles have completely brought my 7-year old self out of my 20 plus something self at the present day who is up and ready for overnight twiddling of such toddler's toys.

After the news of its availability spread like a wild fire, I headed off as speedy as I could to the nearest food chain branch and elbowed my way through the vast sea of children lining up at the counter just to get their own set of these yellow cute bananaholics.

Thankfully, as my faith and high hopes would have it, I was able to finally took one set home and gladly played around with them. I was like a kid who just had ADHD detected. ( immaturity bites on) I couldn't really hold my horses to take them out of its box and delve into it to find what they are made of.

After  the launching of minion collectibles to the public through McDonald's, it was, without a doubt, the trendsetter that made all the millennials going crazy.  The pressure of its popularity was really intractable. It stirred me up to  the point I almost try to jump on bandwagon of posting selfies while holding it closer to my face on my different social media platforms and captioning it with 'pa-rich kids ' status like how those whore netizens did. They were just trying to squeeze into the loop of popularity just to look cool on but they actually weren't.

In my attempt to post it just to see how far it will go, I was so thankful that it didn't go through because if it did, I might have been labeled and misunderstood for being such a fame whore or social climber by some know-it-alls.

On one hand, I don't see any reason why others have to post it on their 'brag wall' just for everybody to get coveted of it. For its cheaper price of 150 pesos, everyone from all walks of life can actually afford to take one home if they have extra savings to spend with. It is not worthy of a piggy bank to break.

On the other hand, these toys have nothing to be bragged about. Do they have? they are all made out of cheaper plastic and toxic materials that get easily break apart by just a thud. So what is  the essence of owning it and letting the entire world knows that you have one? It is actually look low-end on those whores who are fond of bragging it on cyberspace.

But whatever way they wanna do with those toys is absolutely none of my business. After all, they paid for it so they have the rights to enjoy it in anyway they like. The only one thing that I'm really concerned about is that they should realize that social media, once it is abused, can make their whole lives turn upside down. Hoping it is not literally and figuratively.

There are lots of ways that we can think of on how to make our social media more useful. -Like postings memorable moments with friends or interact with other people whom you have the same interests with.  Sometimes we have to be mindful of what we post online because not everyone will like it.  Well anyway I don't wanna be hellish here so I rest my case and am gonna give it to the high heads of judge mentality. In fact, I have my two sides of the coin stated and I loathe to get further into this anymore.

Apart from the value meals itself, it also comes with fries and burger to nibble on while enjoying its different variations .  On the other hand, I am a firm  believer that It is not only meant to be enjoyed by pre-schoolers but it also legally suited for those youngs-at-heart including myself. And these cute toys  can serve as perfect buddies for  those childhood-deprived peeps.

Thehe happy meals have 10 (in Philippines) adorable designs to choose from and it can be bought either by pieces or by bundle. For every purchase of value meal comes with one minion character that can be brought home as the best 'pasalubong' for kids.  For those die heart fans of minions, these items are definitely worth the money if you really into collecting the super cute yellow little things.

It is indeed , minions invaded social media. And they are uncontrollable. But whether we admit it or not. They are so irresistibly adorable to play around with.
